Reducing Stress At Tax Time
Written by New Ventures Maine | Published on May 21, 2018WHO SAID TAX TIME HAS TO BE STRESSFUL? NOT THIS TAX FILER!
Wabanaki CA$H had a very busy tax season this year! Wabanaki CA$H offered tax clinics in each of the four Wabanaki tribes in Maine – the Maliseet, Micmac, Passamaquoddy, and Penobscot – and also served individuals at the Four Directions Development Corporation Offices in Orono.
The satisfied tax filer in this picture, who is currently saving to buy a car, received assistance filing her taxes at a recent free tax clinic offered by Wabanaki CA$H. She is a member of a local Wabanaki tribe and enjoys receiving assistance in filing her taxes within her own community. Filing taxes can be an intimidating and complicated process. It is reassuring to have a friendly helpful person assisting you. In addition to tax preparation assistance, Wabanaki CA$H looks forward each year to the opportunity to inform tax filers about their options for savings and asset building in all areas of their lives. Volunteers are also available to discuss and help partner tax filers with community resources that are available to help with more immediate needs. They do this in partnership with the IRS and the CASH Maine, which provides free tax assistance all over the state of Maine in case you know someone who might benefit.
