Want to keep that financial momentum going post-tax season? Think about attending a homebuyer education course through HoMEworks or a local nonprofit!
In cooperation with MaineStream Finance and Penquis CAP, Four Directions is offering a comprehensive homebuyer education course at our Orono office this March. The course is open to tribal members and non-tribal members alike and provides step-by-step instruction on all aspects of the home buying process from application to closing. Class participants who attend the two classes receive a homebuyer education certificate that is recognized by Maine State Housing Authority, Rural Development, and other lenders. It’s good for two years, and, if eligible, the certificate looks great to banks/lenders and can qualify the borrower for up to $3500 toward closing costs with the MSHA Advantage program.
Please note that the course does charge a $30 attendance fee per person that can be applied towards closing costs of various loan programs, including Four Directions loans. Additionally, this course is a requirement for all first-time homebuyers who receive home loans through Four Directions, so it is a great way to get this requirement out of the way! The course is also lots of fun and has a great lineup of speakers. See the attached flyer for more details on the course and how to and RSVP to Four Directions or MaineStream Finance to let us know if you would like to attend!
